You're all I've got. I don't know about you, but I'm not ready to let what's happened shape the rest of our lives.

Dot (Joey Kohnke) was once bold, strong, and in control of her life. Since her stroke she is still strong in mind, but has been betrayed by her body.

Liz (Jessica Veurman-Betts), Dot’s daughter, is now responsible for her caring for her mother. She has sacrificed her life and career for an exhausting battle, filled with appointments, pills, bills, chores and fear.

Both Liz and Dot are trying to find a way to survive in their new roles, both struggling to hear, be heard, to see, and be seen. And neither woman knows what the next day will bring.

Dive into a tumultuous world where each day is underpinned by an impossible conversation, as this mother and daughter team get lost delving between the lines of fighting for another day and learning to let go.

Developed in consultation with Carers Queensland by Queensland playwright Emma Workman, Yielding is the first in Emma’s series Let’s Speak of the Unspoken.
